Secure IT Disposal for Healthcare & NHS — Patient Data Protected by Government-Grade Standards
1
The Stakes Are Higher in Healthcare
Patient records are among the most sensitive data in existence. When you retire a device in a healthcare setting, incomplete data destruction is not a compliance failure —it is a patient safety issue. Techwaste North East handles healthcare IT disposal with the rigour that your organisation, your patients, and the regulator expect
2
Certified Data Destruction to NSA, DoD, and HMG Standards
Healthcare IT disposal carries a level of risk that no other sector can match. Patient data is classified as special category data under UK GDPR—the highest tier of personal information — which means your obligations go beyond standard data protection requirements.
Any device that has touched a patient record must be decommissioned with a documented, auditable process that can withstand ICO scrutiny. On top of GDPR, NHS organisations must also satisfy CQC governance standards and NHS Digital guidance on data security. This is not a box-ticking exercise: a single breach involving patient data can trigger a regulatory investigation, cause genuine harm to individuals, and inflict lasting reputational damage on your organisation. The provider you choose for IT disposal matters more in healthcare than anywhere else.

Full Documentation as Standard
You receive a Waste Transfer Note covering the entire collection and an individual Certificate of Data Destruction for each device, referenced by serial number. These documents are your proof of compliance —keep them for three years as required by WEEE regulations, and produce them if the ICO or Environment Agency ever asks. No documentation gaps, no ambiguity.

FAQ
Q: Is the collection really free ?
A: Yes, completely. There are no collection fees, no minimum quantities, and no charges for data destruction or certificates. Businesses and NHS services are stretched enough as it is — we've built a service that costs you nothing, and helps the planet.

Q:What happens to the data on the devices?
A: All devices processed at our facility, have their data destroyed using certified erasure methods that meet NSA130-2, DoD 5220.22-M, and HMG IS5 standards. You'll receive a numbered certificate for each device confirming this has been done. Data is not recoverable after our process —that's the whole point.

Q: Can you collect from multiple sites across a trust?
A: Yes.We regularly work with multi-site organisations across the North East. We can coordinate a single collection run covering several locations, or schedule separate visits to different sites — whatever works best for your estates and IT teams. Contact us to discuss your specific footprint and we will plan accordingly
